Conservative treatment for equinus deformity in children with cerebral palsy using an adjustable splint-assisted ankle-foot orthosis
BACKGROUND A novel splint, the assisting ankle-foot orthoses (AFO), was developed to provide adjustable sustained stretching to improve conservative treatment for equinus deformities in children with cerebral palsy (CP). The treatment effect was validated by follow-up visits. METHODS This study involved subjects between 2 and 12 years old, including 28 CP children treated with splint-assisted...

متن کاملComparative study of results of electronic axiography with results of magnetic resonance imaging including MRI-assisted splint therapy.
The most common temporomandibular joint disturbance is the internal derangement. Its prevalence has been shown to be as high as 28%. The purpose of this study was on one hand to compare the diagnostic efficiency of an electronic axiographic system with magnetic resonance imaging, and, on the other hand to evaluate the results of MRI-assisted treatment monitoring of occlusal splint therapy. The ...
متن کاملMandibular Range of Movement and Pain Intensity in Patients with Anterior Disc Displacement without Reduction.
OBJECTIVE Temporomandibular disorders (TMD) are the most common source of orofacial pain of a non-dental origin. The study was performed to investigate the therapeutic effect of the conventional occlusal splint therapy and the physical therapy. The hypothesis tested was that the simultaneous use of occlusal splint and physical therapy is an effective method for treatment of anterior disc displa...
متن کاملComputer-assisted Virtual Surgery and Splint Fabrication for Paediatric Mandible Fracture
Computer-assisted virtual surgery is a rapidly emerging topic in the dentistry field (1). Recent developments of high resolution computed tomography (CT) has enabled a better understanding of the complex anatomical structure. The combination of high resolution CT, three-dimensional reformatted images, and stereolithographic models have improved the convenience and accuracy in oral and maxillofa...
